Electrical and Sensors parts
Electrical and sensor parts generate, distribute and measure. Alternators charge the battery and run the vehicle, sensors report engine conditions to the ECU, and fuses and distributors protect and direct the current.
Electrical faults are the ones most often misdiagnosed, because a failing sensor and a failing wire produce the same fault code. Reading the code tells you which circuit is unhappy, not which component has failed.
Sensors are the most frequently needed same-day electrical line across the network, because the vehicle usually will not run without them. Branches hold the common crankshaft and camshaft position sensors deliberately for that reason.
Alternators are supplied by output rating as well as by fitment. A 90A and a 110A unit can share mounting points and drive completely different electrical loads.

- AlternatorsThe alternator generates the electricity that runs the vehicle while the engine is running and recharges the battery. Without it the vehicle runs only until the battery is flat, usually within an hour or two.
- Distributors and IgnitionA distributor routes high-voltage current from the ignition coil to the correct spark plug at the correct moment. It is found on older engines; modern engines use coil-on-plug systems instead, with no moving distributor cap.
- Engine SensorsEngine sensors measure conditions such as crankshaft position, camshaft position, air flow, temperature and oxygen content, and report them to the ECU so it can control fuelling and ignition.
- Fuses and RelaysFuses protect electrical circuits by failing deliberately when current exceeds a safe level. Relays let a small switch control a high-current circuit such as a fuel pump or headlights.
Electrical and Sensors questions
My fault code points at a sensor. Does that mean the sensor has failed?
Not necessarily. A fault code identifies the circuit reporting a problem, which includes the wiring, the connector and the ECU input as well as the sensor itself. Check the connector and loom for corrosion or chafing before replacing the sensor.
How do I know which alternator my vehicle needs?
Output rating in amps, pulley type, and mounting configuration. The rating is usually on a label or stamped on the case. Bring the old unit or its details to the counter.
