Belt covers are the plastic or metal shields that protect timing belts and chains from dirt, water and road debris, and prevent contact with other components.
What it does
The cover encloses the timing drive, keeping contamination away from the belt and retaining oil where the cover forms part of a sealed timing case.

- Oil leaks where the cover forms part of the seal

Does a missing belt cover matter?
Yes. It keeps grit, water and oil off the belt. Running without one significantly shortens belt life and risks debris getting between belt and sprocket, which can jump the timing.
Do belt covers come with new fasteners?
Not always. The mounting bolts and any seals are frequently separate lines, so ask the counter to include them when ordering.
