Body Mouldings
Body mouldings are the plastic or rubber strips fitted along doors, sills and wheel arches to protect paintwork from impacts and to finish the vehicle’s appearance.
What it does
Mouldings take minor knocks in car parks and shield paint edges from stone chips. They are usually clipped or bonded to the panel.
Signs a body moulding is failing
- Mouldings that have come loose or detached
- Faded, chalky or cracked plastic
- Missing clips causing rattles or lifted edges
- Corrosion appearing on the panel beneath a lifted moulding
When to replace them
Not scheduled. Replaced when damaged, faded, or lost.

Do mouldings come with fitting clips?
Not always. Clips are frequently a separate line and are usually single-use, so ask the counter to add them to the same order rather than discovering they are missing on the job.
Can a faded moulding be restored instead of replaced?
Trim restorers can improve lightly faded plastic for a time. Once the surface is chalky or cracked, replacement is the only lasting fix.
